California Passes Bill Blocking Cities from Punishing Good Samaritans Who Offer Aid to the Homeless

“You can’t say that it's a crime to give somebody a bottle of water or food or to provide them with legal services or medical services just because they don't have a home,” stated Ishvaku Vashishtha, a legal fellow at the Inner City Law Center. “That is the fundamental premise of this bill.”

Wait, it was ILLEGAL to help someone before this?

Banning feeding people is very common in places across America, both by individuals and organizations: https://legalclarity.org/when-is-feeding-the-homeless-considered-illegal/

Why did this need a law? It's a free country you should be able to help who ever

The fact we now need laws to allow people to be good human beings is wild. It amazes me how many religious nuts are against this, I was thought through the church that helping all living creatures was Jesus' way. That was the 90s though so maybe theres a new new testiment that says different.

Weird thing when you have to legislate protections for people trying to legitimately help others.

Amazing they had to do that in the first place.
