The reporter from The Atlantic did a better job figuring out what information should be allowed for public consumption than the people in the intelligence and military leadership.

The use of Signal here shows that they are almost certainly using it for just about EVERYTHING, with the EXPRESS PURPOSE of avoiding ANY FOIA requests.

They aren't "keeping" records, they're planning, executing, and refusing to record anything in direct violation of federal law, SPECIFICALLY for the EXPRESS PURPOSE of avoiding those records coming back on them because they're committing crimes.

For a specific list, this was VERY classified info (not merely "stamped classified," but info about an active impending military action) and they:

• Sent it through a unauthorized, not-allowed, non-secure commercial platform
• With hardware you're not supposed to use for it
• Almost certainly from locations where they aren't allowed to have the discussion- you can't even bring a cell phone into the secure room (SCIF)
• Accidentally copied someone who was ABSOLUTELY not supposed to have access to the info
• Set it up for illegal destruction of records

They were supposed to:

• Use the correct hardware
• From the correct secure location (SCIF)
• With the correct secure software
• NOT SEND INFO TO SOMEONE WHO ISN'T ALLOWED TO ACCESS IT
• Archive information securely for the secure records

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which works to elect Democrats into the House of Representatives, shared a post about the stock market tumbling since President Donald Trump took office on Jan. 20.

"Republicans inherited one of the strongest stock markets in history and in 1 month they've f--ked it all up," the DCCC stated.

There is a pattern: 

• Jimmy Carter added $25 billion to the deficit.

• Ronald Reagan added $74 billion. That seemed bad at the time; just you wait.

• George H.W. Bush added $102 billion.

• Bill Clinton reduced the deficit by $383 billion, leaving the budget in surplus when he left office.

• George W. Bush added $1.54 trillion to the deficit.

• Barack Obama got the deficit down to $585 billion; that is, he reduced it by $825 billion.

• Donald Trump added $2.1 trillion to the deficit.

• Joe Biden reduced the deficit by about $942 billion. 

The especially heinous part of this is that the Republican tax plans are always built in a way that gives momentary benefits that fuck you extra hard when they expire, but they only ever expire for us shelbs. The rich get permanent tax breaks, the rest of us get temporary ones. That's why the deficit keeps growing - they keep giving the rich even larger breaks while the rest of us get fucked even further.

No one realizes the long term trend. They just know that the Republicans are in power when their taxes were lower, and the Democrats are in power when they're higher. So when it comes time to vote, they remember that Democrat leadership cost them higher taxes, so therefore it MUST be the Democrats' fault.

No one wants to hear that though. They want to here "this good; that bad", or even better "us good; they bad". It appeals to our most basal instincts.

I think Trump 100% understands what economists are saying when they say Americans ultimately pay for tariffs. I think he even knows that himself. He sees it as an "ends justify the means" situation. The wealthy can afford to ride it out. Many have taken large cash positions that they intend to plow back into assets after the market correction occurs.

The more nuanced Trump is, the more he alienates the people who elected him. Sticking to an oversimplified and incorrect position is advantageous for him. The challenge for his opposition is finding a message and communication style that gathers a larger cohort of the electorate.

Tax cuts for the wealthy have long drawn support from conservative lawmakers and economists who argue that such measures will "trickle down" and eventually boost jobs and incomes for everyone else. But a new study from the London School of Economics says 50 years of such tax cuts have only helped one group — the rich.

The new paper, by David Hope of the London School of Economics and Julian Limberg of King's College London, examines 18 developed countries — from Australia to the United States — over a 50-year period from 1965 to 2015. The study compared countries that passed tax cuts in a specific year, such as the U.S. in 1982 when President Ronald Reagan slashed taxes on the wealthy, with those that didn't, and then examined their economic outcomes. 

The point was always to decrease labor power.

And steal their wealth. So many pensions were stolen during the Reagan years.

Trickle down economics is a lie that's been sold to justify the extravagance of the bourgeoisie, that we should feel thankful for the scraps off their plates.
