I actually did a quick search on Biden's inaugural to see what he actually said.
GOP: Not mention once.
Republican: Not mentioned once.
Conservative: Mentioned exactly once, in the context of "We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal."
So, the way I see it, if these people are angry that Biden called out political extremism, white supremacy, and domestic terrorism, it's because they took it to mean that he was talking about them. That they are political extremists, white supremacists, and domestic terrorists.
They don't think of themselves like that. They think they're patriots, defending American culture from being remade into something foreign and alien.
If you're hanging out with political extremists, white supremacists, and domestic terrorists because they're your neighbors, in the PTA, you go to the gun range with them, you go to church with them, whatever, and you don't call them out on their bullshit, then yeah, Biden WAS talking about you. The Allies had a word for people that just "hung out" with Nazis - they called them Nazis too.
