News Analysis: Trump delayed weapons to Ukraine and praised Putin. Did that trigger war?
"Trump in 2019 threatened to hold up weapons deliveries to Ukraine — caught even then in a simmering war with Russian proxies — unless Zelensky helped him dig up political dirt on rival Joe Biden."
As idiotic as he tends to be, I agree with Bolton on this point: Putin planned to attack Ukraine whenever the situation was best. Trump's sycophantic obsession with Putin actually obviated Putin's plan to attack Ukraine. It was clear that Trump would do whatever he could to weaken NATO and Ukraine, as well as forge closer ties with Russia. Every day of Trump's presidency made the environment better and better for attacking Ukraine. It was much more beneficial for Putin to see how far Trump would go on this route before attacking. It's like if he owned a stock and was watching the price skyrocket daily with no sign of stopping. Might as well wait to sell.
Pro-Trump group sent armed members door-to-door in Colorado to “intimidate” voters: Lawsuit
"The lawsuit alleges that the U.S. Election Integrity Plan — led by Shawn Smith, an ally of former Trump strategist Steve Bannon and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell — is sending armed members door-to-door in areas with large numbers of voters of color, questioning people about how they voted and taking photographs of their homes."
It’s actually worse than the title sounds:
"Sometimes armed and donning badges to present an appearance of government officiality, USEIP agents interrogate voters about their addresses, whether they participated in the 2020 election, and — if so — how they cast their vote," the complaint says. "It is reported that multiple agents have claimed to be from 'the county,' and have, without any evidence, falsely accused the residents of casting fraudulent ballots."
The voting rights groups say the group's efforts to seek out areas where they believe voter fraud occurred has largely focused on high-density housing areas and communities experiencing a growth in the number of minority voters.
Yes, much worse:
The lawsuit alleges that the U.S. Election Integrity Plan — led by Shawn Smith, an ally of former Trump strategist Steve Bannon and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell — is sending armed members door-to-door in areas with large numbers of voters of color, questioning people about how they voted and taking photographs of their homes.
Of course it's in areas with large numbers of minority voters, and there is an implicit threat in taking pictures of people's houses after accusing them of committing a crime.
Trump Is Guilty of ‘Numerous’ Felonies, Prosecutor Who Resigned Says
"One of the senior Manhattan prosecutors who investigated Donald J. Trump believed that the former president was “guilty of numerous felony violations” and that it was “a grave failure of justice” not to hold him accountable, according to a copy of his resignation letter.
The prosecutor, Mark F. Pomerantz, submitted his resignation last month after the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, abruptly stopped pursuing an indictment of Mr. Trump."
A criminal businessman/actor and FORMER PRESIDENT breaks laws repeatedly but because he has such a devoted cult following, and rich interests wanting to use him, we won’t go after him.
I don’t care if the mob comes, then they will be put down by lawful authority. We cannot throw out our system and laws out of fear of a mob. If so, corruption has won, the republic has fallen. Why? Because any grifter or devious politician that is smarter than trump now realizes they can get away with anything with the mob of their side.
This is how republics fall. Because we are toothless and afraid of the cost of enforcing our own laws. The next guy will be much smarter than trump
"President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency," Brooks said in a statement responding to Trump's withdrawal of his endorsement of Brooks' US Senate campaign.
How has Trump not been indicted yet?
There’s about 60 million people who thought that was a completely rational response to the election. That’s the scariest part.
New research on Trump voters: They're not the sharpest tools in the box
"Recent research by Darren Sherkat, a professor of sociology at Southern Illinois University, demonstrates that America's democracy crisis may be even more intractable than the above evidence suggests. In his recent article "Cognitive Sophistication, Religion, and the Trump Vote," which appeared in the January 2021 edition of Social Science Quarterly, Sherkat examined data from the 2018 General Social Survey and concluded that there are substantial negative differences between the thinking processes and cognition of white Trump voters, as shown in the 2016 presidential election, as compared to other voters who supported Hillary Clinton or another candidate, or who did not vote at all."
Donald Trump is literally world famous for cheating on every wife he’s ever had and cheating his contractors. Anyone who believes him when he claims to be looking out for their best interests is sufficiently dense that we really don’t need a study to confirm how dense they are.
