Hell I've seen this on a small scale. Someone argued against getting a benefit at work because the younger people would enjoy it too, and they didn't have that when they started out.
It’s genuinely so baffling to me that the older generations in some places would want the younger generations to suffer just like they did rather than work to make their lives a bit better or easier.
