GOP for the debt slavery

Supreme Court again declines to block Biden’s student loan relief plan

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a second request to block the Biden administration’s student loan debt relief program.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett denied an emergency application to block the program brought Tuesday by the Pacific Legal Foundation, a conservative legal group, on behalf of two borrowers in Indiana.

On Oct. 20, Barrett rejected a similar request from the Brown County Taxpayers Association in Wisconsin.

If you want a reminder on who is trying to prevent this forgiveness:

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey.

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte.

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox.

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon.

Being indebted makes us similarly suppliant. Less money for leisure means less time spent learning new things, staying informed, and especially being politically active.

They want us stupid and they want us working paycheck to paycheck, in a constant state of stress.

Why are federal student loans specifically so damned punitive? Why are they afraid of college grads getting out of debt's coffin? Why don't we have federally mandated paid vacation like dozens of other countries?

Staying stupid, staying tired, staying stressed, means our political engagement is uninformed, inactive, and superficial.

You have to watch in sheer awe at the energy and resources Republicans throw at something in order to stop it, as soon as they get just a whiff of ordinary Americans getting a little bit of help.
