GOP Votes Down Pressley’s Motion to Investigate Minneapolis ICE Shooting
Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley told her fellow members of the US House Oversight Committee on Wednesday that a motion she was introducing during a hearing was “pretty straightforward”: The committee, she said, should conduct oversight regarding a federal agent’s fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a woman in Minneapolis who was killed in her car earlier in the day.
But the motion failed, with every Republican on the panel voting against it.
Congress has the power and responsibility to investigate federal agencies. If they abdicate that, they are refusing to do their jobs.
Honestly they don't need the house, don't let the federal government get involved in this investigation because they will either scuttle it or try to protect that murderer.
It can 100% be done by the state, they need to start actually protecting their citizens from the fed; the mayor needs to do more than performatively swear on camera, he needs to order the police to do their jobs. A citizen was murdered by a lawless federal agent and they just let him leave.
Republicans once again showing that they don't care about law, justice, or American citizens.
This also further shows that they know the ICE agent fucked up. If he were in the right, they'd go for the investigation to show that he's innocent.
When are people going to understand this party was never for america. They have decades of voting behaviors and statements saying how they hate the american people especially the poor. Pre-Trump, be it mitch openly mocking and admitting to a fake investigation on Kav and stalling all legislation, getting rid of roe and rushing in supreme court justices, mocking dems who've been killed, absolute refusal to do anything every mass shooting of kids, them constantly trying to get rid of ACA, Romneys comments on obamas voters and the poor, the constant attacks on marginalized people, republican reps openly saying certain people should be killed or put in camps, fighting for child labor and no free school lunches for starving kids, their absolute hatred of womens autonomy, their constant salivation at the idea of removing all social programs, and voting like this. They. Do. Not. Care. It is not Just trump, no trump did not make them worse, no trump did not ruin the party, they just dont give a fuck to try to fake it anymore. I knew this party was bad when I was a child because I was a poor kid (now poor disabled queer woman) whos quality of life was constantly threatened by their votes. It's always been open, Its always been open they have a rape and pedophile problem. It's been decades of disdain for Us. Decades. Anti-medicine, Anti-Science, Anti-Quality of life for anyone not rich, anti-environment, anti-peace, anti-religious freedom, anti-gay, anti-trans, anti-women, anti-kids unless its forced birth, anti-safety, anti-infrastructure, anti-health, self serving, "fuck you I got mine", and pro-rich only.
