Are we supposed to receive $7K now? Promising me $5,000 just reminds me that he promised me $2,000 earlier this year.

* Trump said the $5K must be spent in the US, which is as stupid as it is impossible to enforce. If I deposit the money in my Fidelity account and one of the funds has holdings in Canadian companies (or anywhere else outside the US), who’s going to know? Nobody. It’s one of those highly specific details he always adds which is the tell that this is something he’s spinning on the spot.

Stolen Valor part 2 Donald Trumps lies over 9/11

 President Donald Trump has for years told false or unproven stories about what he supposedly saw and did on 9/11 and soon after. As the 25th anniversary of the terror attack approaches, Trump told another story at the White House on Tuesday — in which he claimed to have been carried away by firefighters amid fears of an imminent building collapse at some point after the attack.

It’s possible there are elements of truth in Trump’s latest story, versions of which he has told  before, but he hasn’t provided any evidence for it. And some parts of his Tuesday account — which he delivered at an event honouring 9/11 first responders — are misleading at best. He was miles away from the World Trade Center on 9/11 and was not whisked out of any building near Ground Zero that day.

Asked for evidence for Trump’s story or more details about what supposedly happened, the White House did not provide any.

"Seems to be a fabricated story" is one hell of a way to explain some fat turd who while people who were actually still dying and fires were still glowing thought it best to phone into a news show to tell everyone he now has the tallest building, which was not true either, has chosen to use a public memorial to make up a story how he was actually on site saving lives from the smoking ruble and had to be carried away by fearful firefighters least his courage keep him in harms way. Veterans themselves can be guilty of stolen valor, even if they’ve served, by claiming awards they’ve never earned, and claiming deployments/assignments/jobs they were never on or part of. By that metric, this type of stuff posted by Trump absolutely is considered stolen valor. Especially because the intent is to obfuscate the fact that he never served. That’s also why he does crap like post his school uniform while trying to pass it off as evidence of legitimate service.

The intended target for stuff like this is low information voters and people who don’t bother to fact check. The imagery will stick with them and they will genuinely believe he served, especially because of the American people’s general ignorance of their armed forces. That same ignorance is why random crackheads can trick people into believing they served even when the crackhead is wearing a Spirit Halloween military costume.

Many Americans simply don't hear stories like this because the media doesn't report on them.

It is estimated that only ~10% of Americans have even heard of the Dorian-Alabama controversy, or "Sharpiegate", where Trump took an official NWS projection of Hurricane Dorrian's path and drew on it with a sharpie marker to falsely claim it would hit Alabama. Dorian never came close to Alabama, but Trump has insisted to date that he was correct and the NWS prediction was wrong.

In a reasonable world every American would have heard this story and gone "Holy shit this man is insane!". Instead 10% of Americans did. Only 10%.
