Professor who’s predicted presidential winners since ’80s says Trump won’t be a candidate in 2024. He’s probably right
The GOP doesn't need Trump anymore. They've learned everything they needed to from him, and if their voter suppression and intimidation tactics are any indication, are doing well enough by themselves in chipping away at America's core pillars.
Whoever the GOP picks in 2024 will likely be a more competent and terrifying version of Trump.
Only reason for Trump to run again is to grift more money out of his base.
If Republicans run him again they get to continue their grifting because Trumps name will raise money and Republican turnout. It will be counter balanced by Democratic turn out to reject him but it’s their only chance.
If Anyone besides Trump runs they very likely will have the boost Trump gave them disappear. Most Trump supporters don’t give a shit about the republican party in fact they hate it.
Trump and the GOP were using each other to accomplish their goals but it was always going to end like this. They got their Judges and factions like the religious right got power and access to government.
Both accomplished their short term goals and said “Fuck it lets deal with the consequences later and have Democrats clean up the mess we make.”
Basically if their goal is to win it’s a bad thing. But if they care more about money and attention they might as well do it.
