When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came to Washington this week to try to woo lawmakers ahead of his likely White House run, only a dozen reportedly showed up.

Former Michigan Rep. Dave Trott reached out to Politico, without prompting, to describe exactly what DeSantis was like in person.

“I sat right next to DeSantis for two years on the Foreign Affairs Committee, and he never said a single word to me,” Trott emailed. “I was new to Congress, and he didn’t introduce himself or even say hello.”

Negative charisma is how I’ve been describing it too. He talks and the enthusiasm leaves the room. His speaking cadence isn’t inspiring, he doesn’t look like he believes the shit coming out if his mouth, and if he wasn’t allowed to say ‘woke’ he’d have nothing to say.

And oh yeah he’s trying to fight fucking Disney on multiple fronts, all of which are losing battles in public and private. Even the conservative sub has taken a break from posting about DeSantis because they have to know he is rapidly becoming toxic. His only benefit to them is a convenient pivot off Trump but they’ll go back to the Trump diarrhea trough soon enough.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock without cellular or Wi-Fi access for the last two and a half years, you likely know that Donald Trump and his allies tried their very hardest to overturn his 2020 election loss in Georgia, a plot that is currently under criminal investigation by Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis, and could result in one or more indictments for the people involved. But according to a new report, while they were working on their scheme to illegally keep Trump in power, some members of the group also considered trying to overturn the results of Georgia’s Senate runoff, which had gone to Democrat Jon Ossoff. Real multitaskers!

There is nothing comical about this:

Last year, a former Trump official told the January 6 committee, under oath, that plans to breach voting systems in Georgia had been discussed during meetings in the Oval Office, including in at least one which Trump was present at. That official, Derek Lyons, told the House panel that Giuliani had suggested doing so could be an alternative to ordering the military to seize voting machines.

And I can guarantee you that there are already plans along the same lines to decertify future local/district/state elections if the right person doesn't win. It's criminal tampering and ratfuckery. 

There’s a good chance they were breached previously, so they were just following a known script. The specific voting machines had no paper trail, were discovered to be comically easy to hack from the internet (no need to be local), and when GA election officials (Kemp, I believe, when he was Secretary of State) were ordered to retain the data, it was mysteriously lost by parties unknown with no backups.

Let's get to the part where he gets in trouble for all the "comical" lawbreaking. I'm sick of reading articles daily about how many laws the dude breaks then reading about how he's likely going to be the Republican nominee in 2024. If they wait much longer, the whole thing will be labeled as a political attack, and he will undoubtedly use this experience to somehow claim victory in 2024, which will end very badly for everyone. It's only going to get harder to prosecute him as the weeks go by. Stop fucking around.

It's a very concerning place to be when an elected representative is normalizing leaking classified documents in the same breath as labeling a political opponent as "the enemy".

What she said is near verbatim what Russian talk shows are saying about this war.

The deconstruction of everything I thought this country was supposed to stand for has indeed been an odd thing to experience. What really gets me is how lax any kind of response has been. Term limit should be mandatory

 Dianne Feinstein Faces Resign Calls After Missing 60 Senate Votes in 2023

Feinstein, 89, is recovering after being hospitalized with shingles in early March. Before she became ill with the painful but non life-threatening condition in February, the Democrat had missed two Senate votes in 2023.

Feinstein has not returned to Washington D.C. as she recovers at her San Francisco home. Since March 7, Feinstein has missed a further 58 Senate votes, meaning she has failed to vote in 60 votes of the 82 Senate votes taken in 2023 so far.

She should have retired already, but at the very least she (or the people who surround her) need to have her step-back from the Judiciary Committee and appoint a new member because it's a TICKING CLOCK as to whether Dems will have a Senate majority (or even control of the White House) after 2024.

Every single judicial position needs to be filled and you need present members on the Judiciary committee. 

Feinstein asks for Judiciary replacement after calls for resignation

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) announced on Wednesday that her return to work in Washington has been delayed due to ongoing health complications and called on the Senate to appoint a temporary replacement for her on the Judiciary Committee. 

Her announcement came hours after Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) called for her to resign from the chamber.

“I intend to return as soon as possible once my medical team advises that it’s safe for me to travel.” I’m not so much worried about her ability to travel as I am for her to make cognitive decisions.

I'm sorry, but an 89 year old who is too frail to travel to Washington should be retired.

There is a generational issue. Just look at RBG and every day boomers who refuse to retire despite having plenty of retirement savings. That generation just refuses to make way for the next unless pushed.

There is zero reason why there should be people above 70 in the legislative or judicial branch. 

Feinstein asks to be ‘temporarily’ replaced on Judiciary amid some party pressure to resign from the Senate

 Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Wednesday night that she had asked to be “temporarily” replaced on the Senate Judiciary Committee while she is recovering from shingles, but the California Democrat remained committed to returning to the Senate amid pressure by some in her party to step down.

If she resigns now doesn’t Gavin Newsom have the opportunity to appoint her successor until the next election? She should resign just for that alone, and she’s missed the past 60 Senate votes. I’m not a Californian but her constituents deserve a voice, she’s not providing one now when needed badly.

The people around her propping her up and not letting her resign are the problem. She's got dementia and they are abusing her so they can use her position.

There is no mechanism that can remove an elected representative or senator if they are incapacitated. At least with the President, we have the 25th Amendment's protocols. The Senate could move to expel a member with the requisite 2/3rds vote, but 1) that hasn't been used since expelling Confederate Senators at the beginning of the Civil War and 2) good luck getting 2/3rds vote in the current Senate. The Senate could also amend its own rules to effectuate a vacancy, but that is constitutionally murky and would set a worrying precedent. Beyond that, there is not really a way to legally force a Senator to resign beyond public pressure.

Historically, we've had Senators and Representatives absent for health issues and not resign. Sen. Kennedy was often absent for extended periods towards the end of his life for cancer treatment and Sen. Byrd was often absent for various health issues in the years leading up to his death. In fact, the only real Congressional precedent for declaring a vacancy due to incapacitation appears to be in the House of Representatives. In one case, a sitting representative fell into a coma shortly before election day, but was still re-elected. Being comatose, she obviously could not be sworn in and eventually, after it became clear recovery was unlikely, the House passed an act declaring her seat vacant, thus triggering a special election. The second example occurred while Alaska's representative was running for re-election and campaigning with another representative. The plane they were travelling in crashed and was never found. Similarly to the first example, they were both re-elected on election day and, as neither were able to be sworn in, the House eventually declared the seats vacant and triggered special elections.

It's a mistake to take the bait and argue over whether it's the Democrats or the Republicans who are pedophiles.

What deserves your attention is their attempt to change the definitions of pedophilia and grooming. They're saying for a school to accept a student they way they are - to say it's okay - is grooming.

“I’m retweeting this for one reason,” Kinzinger wrote. “At around 6:30 central time, Lauren decided to tweet this. Why? To anger, stir the pot, offend, and give people a dopamine hit. And raise money. No serious mature debate, just debasing of the whole profession. Twitter isn’t real life.”

When her (then) BF exposed himself at a bowling alley to several young women, Lauren included, was he being "a real man?"

Lauren Boebert Says She Wants To Abolish the Department of Education 

Boebert suggested she would like to go further and end federal involvement in education. She commented: "I'm more in favor of abolishing the federal Department of Education, and getting the federal government completely out of public schools, but we're not there now and we do fund public schools."
