U.S. gas prices are now lower than a year ago

After months in which gasoline prices in the United States have been one of the most visible symbols of inflation, they have a new distinction: Prices at the pump are now lower than they were a year ago.

The reversal of the price escalation that accompanied Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will ease pressure on American consumers dealing with the high cost of other essentials.

The drop in gasoline prices was led by a decline in worldwide energy demand, which drove oil prices lower. The national average price for regular gasoline stood at $3.33 a gallon on Thursday, according to AAA. A year ago, the average price at the pump was $3.34.

I'm sure all the conservatives will be thanking Biden any time now...

Those "i did that" stickers have a bit of an ironic edge to them now, though i doubt the people who put them up will appreciate it.

They're brainwashed. Their feelings don't care about facts. They'll confidently (and incorrectly) assert that gas prices were $1.25 when trump was in office, and that they saw gas at $6.50 this morning. They don't care about being accurate, they just want to feel justified in the hate they choose to flow through them, and they do this by pretending that they're right and winning.

Not surprising gas prices dropped like right after midterms. It was around 4$ a gallon around me on election day. It then "mysteriously" dropped to around 3.20$ a day or so later. But no, gas corporations totally don't inflate prices around elections to help their Republicans backers.

I get gas for 2.50 a gallon in Tennessee it amazingly dropped from over $3 to $2.50 right after the midterms. Man it’s amazing how corporations jack up prices to get their way in elections then drop the prices when the election is over. It’s amazing. Fuck corps and anyone who thinks it’s democrats fault for gas prices.

Here in Michigan it went from 4.25 on Election Day to 2.99 today. Total racket.

It was amazing how back around the election here in Ohio the prices were about $3.65 then on the day before the election all the sudden they jump to $3.99 everywhere and then after the election they immediately start dropping till we are currently at about $3.00.

Weird it’s almost like they were kept at inflated levels through the election season.
