Trump tries to rile up his base to fight against law enforcement

Some Trump supporters ambivalent on calls for protests

Former President Donald Trump’s calls for protests ahead of his anticipated indictment in New York have generated mostly muted reactions from supporters, with even some of his most ardent loyalists dismissing the idea as a waste of time or a law enforcement trap.

No shit. Even they know he didn’t do anything for the last batch of insurrectionists he riled up.

They saw all the Jan 6ers are still be rounded up and Trump is decidedly NOT paying their legal bills,

He pardoned 5 russian spies instead.

It took many years and I'm sure thousands of their personal finances down the drain to get them to see the con-man that's been there the whole time.

Just in time to get conned by the next loser the GOP puts up.

Trump indictment could land as early as Monday, sending law enforcement scrambling

Law enforcement officials are meeting at NYPD headquarters in lower Manhattan on Monday afternoon to plan for a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump on charges stemming from payments to a porn star, a person involved in the planning told POLITICO.

An indictment by a grand jury is expected late Monday or Wednesday, according to three people involved in the deliberations.

I would think for security purposes it will probably be Thursday. Keep it away from the weekend and a couple days past the date Trump stated (and most of his supporters have left) to minimize possible violence.

New York DA had been building several cases related to tax fraud, embezzlement, and international money laundering (per rumors) but those fizzled out which led to speculation that those cases either weren't a slam dunk, or the evidence against him was tainted somehow. He has committed crimes, there's little doubt to that, but proving it in court has been problematic.

Once he is under indictment, there is far more leverage to pry up additional information and evidence. Every statement is sworn testimony, and Trump is a guy who can't help but lie about stuff. The money trail could lead in several directions, and he won't be able to claim executive privilege in this one. It will be embarrassing for him personally, and dangerous for his colleagues and attorneys professionally.

The nightmare scenario is that he beats the charge in court and gets to take victory laps while fundraising for his next round of indictments. Once he's found guilty of something, the support from the deep pockets will probably dry up, and it's going to be far easier to tag him for additional crimes.

Trump in panic mode as he braces for likely charges in Stormy Daniels case

Donald Trump is bracing for his most legally perilous week since he left the White House, with the Manhattan district attorney likely to bring criminal charges against him over his role in paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels, as he huddled this weekend to strategize his legal and political responses.

It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife. [Edit: turns out it kinda IS in New York!]

It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife with a porn star.

It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife with a porn star and have your attorney pay her to keep it quiet.

It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife with a porn star, have your attorney pay her to keep it quiet, and then lie to people about it.

It’s not illegal to do any of that while running a campaign for public office.

Turns out though, that when you cheat on your wife with a porn star and have your attorney pay her to keep it quiet…using campaign funds in that transaction IS illegal. And lying about using campaign funds in that transaction is ALSO illegal.
