January 6th insurrection

Insurrectionist members have received $2.6 million from corporate interests since January 6th

"In just the first few months since the insurrection, corporate and industry PACs have contributed more than $2.6 million to campaigns, leadership PACs, and party committees allied with the 147 members of Congress who fed the Big Lie that led to the deadly attack on the Capitol. In all, 170 business PACs—some of which had previously committed to stop giving—have donated to political committees that support and defend the members who voted not to certify the election results.

Corporate political giving has long been a corrupting force in Washington—with lawmakers  depending on it for their political survival, while businesses use the donations to gain access to the officials who make decisions that will impact their bottom line. In the wake of the attack on the Capitol, the situation is worse: Corporate contributions are now increasingly an obstacle to holding elected officials accountable—not only for pushing the baseless conspiracy theories that caused the attack, but also for continuing to make excuses for it. "

The article mentions 228 companies, but does not list them.

How does one boycott the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (Nationwide and Liberty Mutual, etc) , National Association of Realtors, Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Mortgage Bankers Associations, American Council of Engineering Companies, Fresenius Medical Care Holdings, Inc., or National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies? Ductile Iron Pipe Research Association?

Others to boycott: Koch Industries (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries)

PNC? (pnc.com?)

Toyota

AT&T

Pfizer

Jetblue

Cigna

Intel

T-mobile

CVS

US Sugar Corporation, FL Sugar Cane League, American Crystal Sugar

I fully support people individually boycotting these companies. I cannot condone some kind of criminal/terrorist bogeyman/witch-hunt for any entity that wants to fund someone's legal defense for ANY CHARGE, no matter how heinous.

If you strip away people's right to a legal defense you are undermining the entire concept of justice in the US. Restricting access to/causing a chilling effect on ANYONE's ability to pay for legal defense counts as stripping away their right to legal defense entirely.

The more politically charged the crime the more important it is they have access to swap counsel at any time, which outside funding enables. Because are we really to believe a public defender won't face political pressure on something this controversial?

Rep. Tim Ryan Unleashes Fury On GOP Lawmakers Opposed To Jan. 6 Commission

"Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) has had it with the Republican members of the House who attacked a proposed bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol that was carried out by pro-Trump insurrectionists.

After thanking those in the GOP who supported the measure ― 35 Republicans ultimately broke ranks and voted in favor of the commission ― Ryan lit into those who voted against it.

“Holy cow! Incoherence! No idea what you’re talking about,” Ryan said, his voice rising in anger as he pointed to the most obvious and glaring hypocrisy: the endless Republican-led investigations into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“Benghazi!” he said. “You guys chased the former secretary of state all over the country, spent millions of dollars.”"

Bad publicity beats spending time in jail any day.

The only reason they won't cooperate is because they know it will uncover a bunch of Republican politicians were in contact with those inside.

We all watched it. If there isn't repercussions for these politicians for instigating a coup attempt then this country is over. It's going to keep happening.

Make Republicans Talk About the Capitol Riot

"Thirty-five Republicans joined the Democrats who voted unanimously in the House of Representatives on Wednesday to establish a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Now the legislation goes to the Senate, where Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, whose support would almost certainly have been enough to defeat a filibuster by Republicans hostile to scrutinizing the deadly pro-Trump riot, has decided to oppose it.

I’ve often said that it would usually be counterproductive to force lawmakers to perform filibusters by giving marathon speeches on the Senate floor, the way they do it in the movies but not in real life. But this might be one time where Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democrats might defeat a filibuster by insisting that Republicans hold the floor, or by threatening to do so."

They’re always going to deflect so you have to constantly bring back the conversation to the original subject. I had a run in with a trump dolt a little while back that ended in his self deletion. He said he supported trump and What he says so I held him to that. I told him he should go to his workplace and tell someone who’s not white to go back to their own country. He tried to wiggle out of it with “well they should come here illegally”. Nope. Not what I said. The squad was told to go back to their own country even those most of them were born here. So either you support it and follow through on it, which just makes you a raging shithead racist, or you don’t follow through on it which makes you a coward and hypocrite. Moron stopped responding and deleted his account 20 minutes later.

These people are cowards and losers.
